Ohio State is looking at perennial ryegrass cultivars and their performance during heavy traffic. Monostands and blends of ryegrasses were evaluated, as well as one ryegrass mixed with Kentucky bluegrass.

Regenerating perennial ryegrass study

In October 2007, a study was started at the Ohio Turf Foundation Research & Education Facility at Ohio State looking at perennial ryegrass cultivars and their performance during heavy traffic. Monostands and blends of ryegrasses were evaluated, as well as one ryegrass mixed with Kentucky bluegrass. Two of the treatments, namely Baralpha and Barbeta are currently being promoted as spreading or regenerating perennial ryegrasses (RPR) that have prolific tillers and the ability to spread laterally via stolons.
