In 12 days, though, the Indianapolis Indians’ home will have a new outfield . . . and at a discount. DirecTV subsidized the cost of replacing 80,000 feet of sod that was covered by a tent for about seven weeks in conjunction with a Super Bowl XLVI beach party. The outfield is dirt and sand today, but the new sod with one-inch-thick Kentucky Bluegrass arrives March 12 and will take two days to install.
