Ohio University football field honored with STC Sustainability Award

The Synthetic Turf Council (STC) honored Motz as the recipient of the 2023 Sustainability Award at the sixth annual STC Awards Ceremony during the Annual Conference and 20th Anniversary Celebration in New Orleans. Motz garnered the award for their work on the Ohio University Peden Stadium replacement project, which was completed as part of their zero waste initiative.

This award category recognizes an STC member organization who consistently, and through innovation, utilizes sustainable materials and processes that work to minimize negative impact on the natural environment. The STC Awards is a member program designed to honor members who help to promote the association’s values and advance the synthetic turf industry.

Ohio University wanted a high-performing, safe field that aligned with its go-green initiatives. In line with the Bobcats’ goals, Motz completed the synthetic turf football field replacement with zero waste. In addition to reducing seams and providing increased field integrity through the proprietary Game On technology, the turf infill was reused, the old turf recycled and construction waste diverted using Motz’s zero waste approach.
