Turface Athletics, in partnership with the Georgia SportsTurf Managers Association (GASTMA), hosted its annual Field Day at Georgia Institute of Technology to bolster awareness and education in the field maintenance industry.
On April 10, 150 industry professionals joined Turface and GASTMA at Georgia Tech for a day of educational presentations, equipment exhibitions and networking. Spanning across Georgia Tech’s facilities, attendees were treated to a tour of Russ Chandler Baseball Stadium and the historic Grant Field football facility throughout the educational tracks during the day.
“The impressive attendee numbers at this year’s Field Day is a testament to the value of ongoing education in the sports field industry, and our longstanding relationship with Georgia Tech has allowed us to continually support local field management professionals,” comments Jeff Langner, Turface Athletics Brand Manager. “Partnering with GASTMA for the first time this year was a huge success, enabling us to provide improved sessions and open the event to even more organizations in the region.”
Presentations throughout the day included:
- Skinned Infield Maintenance from Turface Athletics
- Equipment Maintenance and Grounds Shop Tour from Georgia Tech
- Painting with the Pros from World Class Athletic Surfaces
- Pitcher’s Mound Management and Maintenance from Chris May, Head Groundskeeper at Georgia Tech
- An insightful Turfgrass education session from Jerad Minnick of Natural Grass Advisory Group.
“Georgia Tech is proud to host the Spring Field Day with Turface every year, and what a success 2018 has been,” comments Chris May, Head Groundskeeper, Georgia Tech. “A great deal of work goes into managing sports fields of any level, and the support provided by GASTMA coupled with educational events such as this one, are critical to the development and success of our industry professionals.”
