Description:
The Senior Groundskeeper/Sports Turf Technician position supports the Grounds Department through providing labor to accomplish athletic field and grounds maintenance related tasks for the purpose of enhancing campus beautification and supporting Facilities Management in order to maintain a safe, functional, clean, efficient and attractive living and learning environment.
Educational Requirements:
High School graduate, G.E.D. equivalent or completion of a vocational program
Minimum Requirements:
Three years landscape or athletic field maintenance experience
Valid drivers license
General knowledge of sprinkler control devices and irrigation equipment. Skill in the operation of heavy trucks and grounds equipment
Knowledge of work methods, equipment, and procedures to assure health and safety standards and precautions are applied to work performed. Good knowledge of the hazards and applicable safety rules and regulations of equipment operation
Knowledge of proper planting and pruning techniques for trees, shrubs, and flowers. Knowledge of most common plant names and where to find information on those which he/she is not familiar
Knowledge of horticulture and athletic field maintenance practices, measuring, and calculations as related to grounds care
Preferred Requirements:
Professional Groundskeeper certification (PGMS, ALCA, PLCCA)
Some post secondary sports turf maintenance courses
Ability to obtain a pesticide applicators license (3A,B,7A,C,E)
