The Association of Washington Business announced that Eco Chemical, a manufacturer of water-based wood stains and coatings for synthetic and natural grass athletic fields, is the recipient of the AWB Environmental Excellence Award, winning in the Green Enterprise & Technology Award category.
AWB’s Environmental Excellence Awards recognize member companies of all sizes and types across the state for their initiative, innovation and outstanding achievements in environmental compliance, protection and conservation. The awards focus on: actions that create a better environment; products that help environmental quality; actions to prevent or reduce environmental problems and conserve resources; and processes, including education and business operations, that improve the environment. AWB recognized Eco TempLine, the company’s water-based removable paint for synthetic turf fields, as a symbol of the company’s commitment to making environmentally-friendly paints and stains.
Eco TempLine was developed in conjunction with the Seattle Seahawks. The team approached Eco Chemical to solve a problem that had been plaguing them and many others that play on multi-use, synthetic sports fields: How to mark their field with paint that can withstand rain, snow and the wear and tear of a game, but can also be quickly and easily removed so the field can be quickly repainted for another sport, such as soccer. Eco Chemical’s response to this challenge was to research, develop and patent Eco TempLine Removable Synthetic Turf Paint. The product has worked so well, it is now being used by 80 percent of NFL teams that play on multi-use fields—including this year’s Super Bowl—as well as numerous colleges and municipalities.
