Position Summary

This specialized internship will work under the guidance of a certified sports field manager, focusing on the maintenance and upkeep of both high quality athletic surfaces and the park areas that surround the fields. Each candidate will receive: firsthand experience in mowing, watering, grooming infields, lining fields, mound and plate repair, equipment maintenance, and foliar and granular fertilizer selection and application. hands-on experience and exposure to turf management in the sports field industry the opportunity to explore the sports field industry from the ground up by taking part in creating fertilizer, irrigation and best management practice plans that could be implemented in many locations. experience assisting in the daily maintenance of the playing surfaces and the park areas at the USA Baseball National Training Complex or the WakeMedSoccerPark

Requirements

REQUIRES: A valid driver’s license with a good driving record Candidates must be currently enrolled in a 2 year or 4 year turf/horticulture program A varying schedule that enables you to work nights, weekends and holidays from approximately April through September (with some flexibility based on school schedule) Candidates must bring a current letter of recommendation from a faculty member or academic advisor to the interview, if granted. Preference will be given to students in their junior or senior year of study for a four-year program or their second year of a two-year program.
