Hilltip introduces extended-auger spreaders

Hilltip has added extended-auger models to its AM series combination spreaders, a design change intended to better accommodate interchangeable truck bed systems and improve weight distribution by allowing the hopper to sit closer to the truck’s bulkhead.

The AM series spreaders range from 2.0 to 4.2 cubic yards and use polyethylene hoppers. They feature six-inch stainless-steel augers and can operate on 12- or 24-volt dual motors. Each hopper includes a vibrator and an inverted V to support material flow.

The units can also be equipped with integral liquid tanks, which range from 220 to 250 gallons. Optional equipment includes pre-wetting nozzles, a dual spray bar and a hose reel with a handheld spray nozzle for pre-wetting, anti-icing and de-icing work.

“Supply chain disruptions in recent years led to an increase in popularity of interchangeable work truck beds, and we’re excited to offer extended auger models to better fit these vehicles,” said Craig Sandmann, managing director for Hilltip North America. “It adds to the superior versatility of our product.”

The extended auger is also available as a retrofit kit for previous AM series spreaders. Owners can remove the existing auger trough and install the replacement using the same mounting points.

Hilltip says its AM series spreaders can be paired with the company’s digital control and tracking tools, including the StrikeSmart Plus controller and TempStriker sensor, which collect data on temperature, humidity and surface conditions. The machines also come with HTrack software for remote monitoring and two-way communication.
