Sports Turf Company wins first place in two AGC Build Georgia Award categories

Sports Turf Company is announced that it has received first place in two 2023 AGC Build Georgia Award categories for its renovations at Brookstone School Mack Strong Stadium and Columbia County Schools. This is the seventh consecutive year that the Associated General Contractors of America statewide chapter has recognized the firm.

“We’re honored to receive recognition on both of these projects that created a great impact on these communities,” said Sports Turf Company President Todd Wiggins. “Both Columbia County and Brookstone’s industry-leading facilities provide safety, durability and performance that will continue to make a difference for their athletic programs for years to come.”

Brookstone School’s natural grass field features an eight-inch USGA sand rootzone over a gravel blanket with lateral drain lines. The TifTuf Bermudagrass was installed to improve the playing surface’s durability and maintenance, which can receive a large amount of rain and traffic while remaining playable all season.

Sports Turf also constructed a new eight-lane running track and events around the perimeter of the stadium field. The World Athletics-certified Rekortan BS track surface focuses on consistent footing and force reduction for athletes.

At all five Columbia County high schools, Sports Turf renovated the natural grass fields into artificial turf that surpasses others safety, durability, and performance. The field features AstroTurf’s RootZone 3D3 HD turf system, Brock YSR shock pad and BrockFILL organic infill. AstroTurf’s RootZone 3D3 turf combines slit film and monofilament fibers with a RootZone layer of texturized fibers for optimum durability and better shock absorbency. The Brock YSR shock pad and BrockFILL are specifically engineered to optimize safety for athletes during impacts to the surface. BrockFILL is the latest in alternative infills and is sustainably grown and harvested in Georgia.

In addition, Rekortan M synthetic track surfacing was installed at the five facilities. Rekortan M is a World Athletics-certified, impermeable system featuring two distinct layers delivering force reduction, stability for predictable footing and protection against moisture intrusion.

Specializing in different types of sports surfaces, Sports Turf builds natural grass, artificial turf sports fields, and tennis courts and track surfaces. Sports Turf guides schools through selecting the best options for a facility, expert installation, and ongoing commitment through its lifetime, with a focus on safety, performance, and durability.
