The Synthetic Turf Council’s (STC’s) Multi-Field Project of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding project installed by an STC member company that exhibits innovation and quality. This year’s STC Multi-Field Project of the Year Award winner is Premier Synthetic Grass, provider of the Fawkner School rec areas in Victoria!
The school awarded the project after a thorough tendering process to surface four different areas at the school in two different stages. First stage was to construct/surface a soccer field and running track, and the second area as a basketball court/running track/multisport area. On stage two, the third area was to be converted into a volleyball and dodgeball area, and the last area was converted as a 4-square court area.
This project consisted of drainage assessments, removal of existing surface and disposing with skip bins, laser grading the top layer of the crushed dust layer and rolling/compacting, rectification works of the asphalt surface and laying of the synthetic grass in accordance with the plans. Champion grass had to ensure the project was completed on time due to some delays caused by the worldwide logistic issues. Champion grass used two to three teams in different shifts to ensure the project was completed on time prior to the end of the school holidays.
The project was designed and constructed in house to cater to 1,000 children at the school. The project included different fields including soccer, basketball, handball, volleyball, etc. The soccer field is also used by the local community and is rented for charity work.
