Shant Thomas joins STMA HQ as new sales & marketing manager

STMA announced the addition of a new Sales & Marketing Manager, Shant Thomas, to fill the vacancy recently left by Patrick Allen. Thomas joins STMA from the University of Kansas’ $17 million dollar foodservice operation, where he led the in-house marketing effort for over seven years. In this management role, Thomas worked with senior department leaders to identify and execute strategic marketing opportunities through a variety of means, including news release generation, speech-writing, advertising creative direction, presentation development, and website direction.


In his position as Sales & Marketing Manager for STMA, Thomas will be responsible for writing and distributing press releases, managing email marketing campaigns, overseeing sponsorship sales for association programs, supervising website management, and developing promotional materials. The position will also serve as the liaison to the website and commercial committees.


Thomas graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in Public Relations and is currently pursuing an MA in Design Management from the University of Kansas. His background includes marketing management, writing, project management, staff development, and creative/art direction.


STMA is the not-for-profit, professional association for the men and women who manage sports fields.  Its more than 2,600 members oversee sports fields and facilities at schools, colleges and universities, parks and recreational facilities, and professional sports stadiums. The membership’s goal is to manage natural turf and synthetic surfaces to produce safe and aesthetically pleasing playing surfaces for athletes at all levels of playing abilities. Since 1981, the association and its dozens of local chapters have been providing education, information and sharing practical knowledge in the art and science of sports field management.
