Green Industry professionals can learn new skills, earn CEUs, and gain business ideas with Ewing’s new classes for 2012-2013. New curriculum focuses on the latest trends, technologies, and best management practices to help landscape and irrigation professionals become more competitive and profitable.
With more than 200 classes being offered across the country, Ewing’s affordable courses offer busy contractors a convenient way to build their skills and receive CEUs. Workshops are divided into five main tracks: irrigation and water management, turf, lighting, business and hardscape.
This season’s courses include:
LED Low-Voltage Lighting Workshop. Explore the benefits and considerations of LED system installation. Learn how to correctly design an LED system, and how to address the key selling points of LED systems in order to land the job. Irrigation Workshop. Learn to properly design, install and troubleshoot low-volume drip irrigation systems. We’ll also cover the use of alternative water sources, and diagnosis and treatment of pressure problems. Landscape Irrigation Auditor. Gain the fundamental water auditing techniques and water management skills needed to evaluate an irrigation system’s efficiency. We’ll also cover irrigation scheduling techniques, and how to program within water windows. Understanding Two-Wire Decoder Systems. From identifying the basic installation components to developing a repertoire of troubleshooting tricks and tools, we’ll discuss how this easy-to-expand irrigation control system can help to boost your bottom line. Integrated Pest Management: Herbicides & Fungicides. Learn the fundamentals of an effective Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program, including pest identification, treatment options, sprayer calibration, and the safe management, storage and application of chemicals. Marketing Tactics for Green Industry Professionals. Learn to prepare, plan, execute and measure the success of your marketing efforts, and leave with a workable marketing plan. We’ll explore traditional marketing methods, as well as digital tactics and strategies including social media, blogs, search engine optimization, email marketing and more. Hardscapes: Segmental Pavers. This class will cover basic installation and guidelines for interlocking pavers, as well as best practices and tips for preventing maintenance headaches.
Courses will be offered from October through April 2013 at various locations throughout the U.S. Participants may use their accrued Hunter Preferred Contractor Points to pay for workshops. Ewing offers continuing education units that complement the continuing education programs of the Irrigation Association (IA), Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System (LA CES), Oregon Landscape Contractors Board (LCB), Louisiana Irrigation Association (LIA) and the North Carolina Irrigation Contractors’ Licensing Board (NCICLB).
