American Society of Irrigation Consultants (ASIC) Executive Director Norman Bartlett announced he’s stepping down from his position effective January 1, 2012. The Society currently is accepting executive director and/or organizational management proposals.
Bartlett, an ASIC member and supporter since 1991, will focus full-time on his flow sensor business, Creative Sensor Technology, Inc. “This is just an incredible group of people – real proponents for the irrigation industry,” Bartlett remarks. “We’ve done many good things together, and I plan to stay involved.”
Of ASIC’s significant accomplishments over his seven-year tenure, Bartlett notes the improved quality of its annual and regional conferences; the increased participation and prestige of the annual Excellence in Irrigation Awards program; the Society’s first Strategic Plan; greater membership and sponsorship support; solid, transparent fiscal management; and the overall increased visibility and relevance of ASIC.
“Of course, Norm will be missed,” offers ASIC President Jeffrey Bruce, Jeffrey L. Bruce & Company in North Kansas City, KS. “He stepped out from the organization’s membership during a challenging period to help lead ASIC into the future. ASIC is deeply indebted to Norm and Kathleen for their many years of devoted service and dedicated leadership. And, as a new chapter opens for ASIC, we look forward to effectively piloting ahead in the interest of our members and the industry.”
“One the greatest strengths of ASIC is its enthusiastic volunteer base; that’s how we were able to accomplish so much,” Bartlett adds. “I could not have managed this organization without the help and ASIC professional representation by my wife, Kathleen. She’s been kind of an unsung hero throughout my tenure.”
