The firm took charge of the pitch that has been relaid 11 times since the ground first opened its doors 3 years ago.

Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI), the company tasked with the management of the much-maligned playing surface at Wembley Stadium, has resigned from the role after just over a year in charge. The firm took charge of the pitch – which has been relaid 11 times since the ground first opened its doors three years ago – in May 2009, but after months of intense criticism, STRI will make way for a new contractor.
