“Kids are walking around the school upset and distraught about what’s happening,” said South junior Isaac Freedman, a co-captain of the football team. “It’s unbelievable.”


A state environmental body ruled Newton South (MA) High School can continue to replace its decrepit athletic fields with artificial turf, as long as the city takes additional steps to keep the turf’s rubber base from leaching into groundwater.
