WAUKEGAN, IL—Seventeen natural-grass, multi-purpose fields and a synthetic-turf “championship field” that might yet be the home of Robert Morris College sports teams are the highlights of a design proposal unveiled Monday for a sports complex at the former Orchard Hills Golf Course site.

While Waukegan Park District Executive Director Greg Petry stressed that the plans represent “just a basic design and layout,” about 50 people at a public hearing in the Belvidere Park Recreation Center saw sketches with two clusters of recreational spaces bracketing an existing creek and wetlands.
