Tangent, OR-Barenbrug USA has hired Jeff McGilvray to be their new Field Representative. McGilvray is a graduate of Oregon State University in both Crop and Soil Science. He has worked in the grass seed industry for over 25 years as an agronomist. Over the years he has been involved in the research and development of new pesticides and fertilizer programs used in our grass seed production today.
McGilvray worked for many years as a senior agronomist for Willamette Seed Company and most recently for Willamette Ag.
The raising of grass and vegetable seed has always been an interesting and challenging job. “I have always enjoyed working directly with growers in producing the finest quality seed possible,” McGilvray said. McGilvray echoed the sentiments felt at Barenbrug when he said, “At Barenbrug USA they understand the importance of quality and that it all starts with and at the grower’s fields.”
McGilvray and wife, Cathy, have six children and six wonderful grandchildren. They are passionate about animals, caring for three horses and five dogs. McGilvray was recruited to play football for Oregon State University and played outside linebacker for three years starting in 1973. When McGilvray is not caring for his animals he can often be found horseback riding, camping or gold panning.
