Oregon State University’s Summer Turfgrass Field Day drew a record crowd of nearly 200 people to see research aimed at helping professionals manage golf courses, sports fields, parks, school grounds and other landscapes across the Pacific Northwest.
The field day is a centerpiece of BeaverTurf, Oregon State’s turf management program in the Department of Horticulture in the College of Agricultural Sciences. The program conducts applied research and provides practical information for turf and landscape managers across the region.
For Chas Schmid, an assistant professor in the Department of Horticulture and turfgrass specialist with the OSU Extension Service, the field day gives practitioners a chance to walk through active research plots, talk directly with researchers and consider how findings might apply to the landscapes they manage.
