An upcoming Penn State Extension workshop will offer pesticide applicator recertification credits for landscape professionals, valuable horticultural insights and networking opportunities, according to organizers.
Pest management for ornamental plants and turfgrass will be the focus of “Turf and Ornamentals School,” slated for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 8, at Lebanon Valley College, 101 College Ave., Annville.
“Turf and Ornamentals School” is a one-day workshop for turf and landscape professionals, arborists, grounds managers, and municipal/county employees. In the morning, participants can choose a two-hour turf pest walk or a landscape pest walk.
Sessions will follow on pollinators and pesticides, ornamental plant pests, GPS sprayers for turf, beech leaf disease, invasive plants, protecting water resources from pesticide contamination, and conducting a site analysis before an application.
Pesticide recertification credits are available in the following categories: core, 06, 07, 10, 18 and 23. Certified arborists can earn continuing education units from the International Society of Arboriculture.
The $120 registration fee includes lunch. Organizers recommend that participants register by 11:45 p.m. July 4.
