The Sports Field Management Association (SFMA) on October 16 announced that it is suspending its search for a new CEO until after its 2025 conference and exhibition. In a letter to SFMA members, SFMA President-Elect Adam Thoms, Ph.D., chair of the CEO Search Group wrote the following:
Dear Members,
As you know, this past May, the Sports Field Management Association’s Board of Directors decided to initiate a leadership change. Since then, the Board has carefully evaluated SFMA’s current position, reaffirming that we are still the same strong, member-oriented association that we have always been.
We have formed a search committee, received direction from the Board, and evaluated the position description. During our evaluation, we recognized that introducing new leadership right before our Annual Conference and Trade Show would place additional demands on our staff and would not allow sufficient time for a thorough onboarding of a new CEO. Therefore, we will pause the interview process until after the conference.
We understand that this timeline may not be as quick as many might like, but the Board believes this approach will allow us to make the best decision for SFMA.
We are looking forward to an exciting conference in Palm Springs and look forward to seeing you all there!
As always, we appreciate your continued support of SFMA,
Adam Thoms, Ph.D.
