Drury University renovates baseball field

Drury University’s (Springfield, Missouri) baseball program, in collaboration with the Springfield Parks Board, will be returning to its original home at Meador Park after seven seasons away from the ballpark. Since 2016 the ballclub played its home games at US Baseball Park / Sky Bacon Stadium in Ozark.

The field will be receiving a full field synthetic surface from Astroturf as part of a $1.5 million renovation that will be completed in time for the 2024 season. The field will be dedicated to Mark Worley, an alum of nearby Glendale High School, who passed away in July 2023. Worley was a standout in baseball and football at Glendale before having a successful baseball career at the University of Arizona and played professionally in Mexico. He also served in the U.S. Army for four years.

Along with the new field, there will be a new fence, new dugouts, new protective netting, a restored scoreboard, sound system and WiFi. The pitcher’s mound and base plugs will be portable to host different age groups.
