NCS4 instructors gather for training

The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) hosted 43 instructors at the Center for ”Train the Trainer” seminars the week of August 1 at the Trent Lott National Center on the campus of The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. The purpose of the events was to ‘train up’ both seasoned and new instructors on two DHS/FEMA-funded courses.

On August 1-2, a group of 23 instructors trained on the MGT-412: Sport and Special Event Venue Evacuation and Protective Actions course and updates.

On August 3-5, another group of 20 instructors trained on the new MGT-475: Crowd Management for Sport and Special Events course. The course introduces public safety officials, venue operators, event planners, and community stakeholders to key concepts and considerations for crowd management, control, and dynamics.

Instructors will begin delivering both courses in person next month. For more information on either of these courses or other training offered by the NCS4, visit https://ncs4.usm.edu/training/fema-dhs-courses/
