Park and Recreation Month was created by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and has been celebrated in America for the last 30 years. During the month of July, NRPA highlights the vital and essential role local park and recreation professionals play in conservation, health and well-being, and social equity efforts in communities across the country.
Park and recreation professionals provide many services that are vital for our communities — they protect natural resources and open spaces, provide fitness programs and summer camps for kids. Park and Recreation Month encourages everyone to reflect on the exponential value park and recreation professionals bring to communities.
Park and recreation professionals can get involved by doing the following:
- Using the official logo and the hashtag #RiseUpJuly throughout the month.
- Sharing what being a park and recreation professional means to you on social media with the hashtag #RiseUpJuly
- Participating in Park and Recreation Professionals Day on July 15, 2022.
- Downloading the official Park and Recreation Month poster and hanging it up, taking pictures with it or sharing copies of it with your community.
- Participating in the “Park and Recreation Month Cover Contest” contest throughout the month.
