SGSA Conference 2022

The Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA) Conference 2022 will take place on May 24, 2022, at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester, UK.

Being a safety professional requires constant vigilance and an ability to respond to changing and emerging threats to keeping people safe. The SGSA Conference 2022 will address the key issues facing those involved in the sports and events sector, particularly around safety, security and service.

Speakers include:

  • Mark Clemmit, reporter on BBC’s Football Focus, will serve as chair of the event.
  • Dr. Jo Welford, from CFE Research, who is leading the evaluation of the current early adopters of licensed standing in seated areas.
  • Professor Geoff Pearson, speaking about the events in Wembley last year.
  • Paul Greaney QC, Counsel for the Manchester Arena Inquiry.

This event is for anyone involved in safety at large events, in particular, safety at sports grounds. A focus of the conference will be the introduction of licensed standing in seated areas – with the event taking place at one of the early adopter grounds, you’ll be able to hear firsthand the experiences from the first few months of its implementation.

There will also be lots of opportunity for networking with other safety professionals throughout the day.
