Artificial turf falling apart at park in Nevada

Artificial turf installed on three multi-purpose fields at the Golden Eagle Regional Park sports complex at a cost of nearly $1.4 million in public funds is breaking apart prematurely, the Sparks Tribune has learned.

The same turf has deteriorated on other fields throughout the country while under warranty.

FieldTurf, the company that sold and installed the turf, has blamed the early failure on defective polymer fibers from a supplier.
