Jacobsen supporting local youth through college scholarships

Through its support of a non-profit organization called the Tri-County Golf Club, Jacobsen recently helped award college scholarships to three high school seniors in the Charlotte region.

Founded over 30 years ago by minority golfers who wanted to grow the game in their local communities, the Tri-County Golf Club is committed to enriching the lives of local youth through clinics, tournaments and educational scholarships. The club represents the counties of Lancaster, Chester and York in South Carolina, just south of Jacobsen’s headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Every year, the Tri-County Golf Club awards three high school seniors with a $1,000 college scholarship. A third party selects the recipients based on character, academic performance and a student essay submission. Eligible students are required to be accepted into an institution of higher learning.

Jacobsen Purchasing Specialist Chuck Ware serves as the Tri-County Golf Club’s Secretary and has been involved with the group for over ten years. “Since the beginning, the group has been trying to uplift our communities in any way we can, not just through golf,” said Ware. “We look forward to the continuing support of Jacobsen and other companies throughout the area so that we can impact even more youths in our communities. Jacobsen has been contributing to the scholarship fund for over five years now and it has helped make a big difference in the lives of many kids.”

This year’s recipients were Sedona Smith of Lancaster High School, Shane Lucky from Chester High School and Logan Ballard of Clover High School.
