Jacobsen proud to support 2012 US Women’s Open

A fleet of turf maintenance equipment from Jacobsen is helping maintain the turf during last week’s 2012 U.S. Women’s Open at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wisconsin. Some of the world’s best female golfers will vie for the Open title including Se Ri Pak, Natalie Gulbis, Paula Creamer, Michelle Wie and Brittany Lincicome.

One of Pete Dye’s crowing achievements, Blackwolf Run is a blend of beauty and peril, combining cozy meadows and rolling streams with deep valleys and charging ravines. Consisting of two 18-hole courses (River and Meadow Valleys), Blackwolf Run and the two breathtaking courses of Whistling Straits represent four of the highest-ranked resort courses in the United States.

Michael Lee, Manager of Golf Course Maintenance at Kohler Golf, and his crew have set the perfect stage for one of golf’s greatest majors. Since 1988, all four championship golf courses in Kohler have used Jacobsen equipment, including the LF-550 fairway mower, to maintain the turf. Lee and his crew are supported by local Jacobsen dealer Horst Distributing.

“We’ve been using Jacobsen mowers at Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits for decades. The quality of the equipment speaks for itself,” said Lee. “We are looking forward to Jacobsen’s support for the 2015 PGA Championship and 2020 Ryder Cup, both to be held at Whistling Straits.”

“We are proud to be part of the 2012 U.S. Women’s Open at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wisconsin, one of the greatest golf destinations in the world,” said David Withers, President of Jacobsen. “The fact that we’ve been helping them maintain their courses for almost 25 years is a testament to the quality of our machines and the superior support we provide our customers.”
