Technomad weatherproof loudspeakers make good neighbors

SBPROLINE, a sound system consultant and global supplier of professional audio and public address systems, has installed 18 Technomad weatherproof loudspeakers throughout Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Olympic Park, Seoul.  SBPROLINE, based in South Korea, selected Technomad loudspeakers for their outstanding audio quality and projection, diversity of products, weatherproof design, and durability in the outdoor elements.

Jamsil Baseball Stadium, built in 1982, seats 30,265 people and is home to both the Doosan Bears and LG Twins, both professional teams of the KBO Baseball League.  SBPROLINE installed Technomad Berlin 15/H, Noho C, Paris 616T and Vernal 15T loudspeakers at various stadium points depending on the audio requirements for each location, relying on the abundance of mounting points and strong construction to ensure the best possible placement of each loudspeaker.

Specifically, six Berlin loudspeakers were selected to provide short throw audio to the main seating areas.  The Technomad Berlin offers unparalleled projection, fidelity, and power to disperse intelligible voice and music to main seating areas while maintaining an even pattern.  Two Paris loudspeakers and eight Vernal loudspeakers provide satellite audio and dugout audio systems respectively, while two Noho loudspeakers encompass a monitor system to broadcast live player interviews throughout the stadium.

According to Mr. Hyun, President of SBPROLINE, the Technomad loudspeaker system replaced an aging PA system that was installed prior to the 1988 Seoul Summer Games for baseball events.  SBPROLINE designed, tuned and measured the system for directivity and accuracy; the system was installed by local contractors Hoseo Telecom and Dongseo E&C Co. Ltd.

“Jamsil Baseball Stadium is the largest baseball park in Korea and is surrounded with office buildings and apartments, so the challenge was to install an audio system that could cover the entire park without bleeding into adjacent buildings,” said Mr. Hyun.  “The scoreboard tower was the only area in the stadium where we could install the main part of the sound system, so it was necessary to install loudspeakers with very high SPL and outstanding directivity to meet the park requirements.  The Technomad Berlins interact with long throw horns and an 8-ohm amplifier system at the scoreboard tower to ensure that clear audio reaches every seat without leaking outside the stadium.”

Hyun designed as 70-volt system for the Paris and Vernal loudspeakers to ensure accommodate longer cable runs from the central PA rack to the loudspeaker points.  He noted that Jamsil Baseball Stadium officials were especially impressed with the weatherproof design and audio quality of the various Technomad models.

“Many of these loudspeakers are installed out in the open air, completely unprotected from the snow, rain and wind that are common in the Seoul region,” said Hyun.  “The clear audio output cuts right through these elements unblemished.  Jamsil Baseball Stadium officials are especially pleased with the Noho monitor system for player interviews, as speech comes through loud and clear even during heavy rains in the summer.”
