Weerts is the owner and operator of Weerts Companies, Inc. Founded in 1973, Weerts Companies, Inc. does roadside seeding and sodding. Primarily serving as a subcontractor, they perform various types of turf restoration and erosion control on county, state and federal highway projects.

In this position, Slatter will oversee the development of new products for the US non-crop markets, which include the pest, turf management and nursery/greenhouse industries, both professional and consumer segments.

Erin Wilder, a lifetime student and advocate of the turfgrass industry, is now leading one of its top organizations. On September 11, Wilder became the 55th president of the Florida Turfgrass Association. She is the third female to hold the post in the association's 61-year history.

Environmental Science, a division of Bayer CropScience LP, announced the appointment of John Wendorf as market segment manager, and Wes Kleffner as area sales manager, for the North American Turf and Ornamentals business. Based in Research Triangle Park, NC, Wendorf will focus on business development and strategy to support the growth of Bayer's portfolio of T&O solutions.

Dan began his career with Trinity Industries/Diamond Pro August 12. Dan brings real-world experience and education into all aspects of the Diamond Pro business. Dan has a diversified background and plenty of professional head groundskeeping experience in the Midwest League. A native of Grand Rapids, MI Dan is a graduate of Michigan State University's Sports and Commercial Turfgrass program.

Bill Deacon, graduate of Penn State's 2-year turf program (2000), hosted this years' MLB All-Star Game and affiliated activities last month at CitiField, home of the New York Mets. The field hosted the future's game, the homerun derby, and of course the game itself, but many are not aware of the numerous other events the field hosts during the 4-day event.
