Iowa State University to break ground on mixed-use entertainment district

Iowa State University (ISU) is set to break ground on CyTown, a 94-acre mixed-use entertainment district that will be located between Jack Trice Stadium and Hilton Coliseum.

According to reports, the project will cost between $175 million and $225 million. Iowa State University will not assume any debt for the project.

ISU stated that CyTown will capitalize on its unique location in the heart of the Iowa State Center to attract more visitors to the Iowa State and Ames communities, spur economic growth, and afford new amenities to students, faculty, staff and residents to enjoy while complementing Ames’ reputation as an outstanding community to live, work, play or attend school.

ISU has stated that CyTown will be the nation’s first built on a college campus. CyTown will feature a medical facility, a hotel, restaurants retail space, office space, and an amphitheater.

CyTown is expected to be completed by fall of 2027.
