SFMA Featured Speakers of the Month for December

The SFMA Conference Education Committee has put together an exciting and informative education program for the 2025 Conference in Palm Springs, California. Each month, speakers will be featured to highlight a sample of what will be offered to attendees at the conference. This month’s featured speakers are Pamela Sherratt and Alpha Jones, CSFM.

Sherratt will present “Predict & Diagnose Field Problems, followed by the Ultimate Quiz.” This session aims to empower the audience with a deepened understanding of predictive diagnosis for biotic and abiotic problems on sports fields. To reinforce the theoretical knowledge acquired, attendees will engage in a pictorial quiz. This interactive session will challenge participants to apply their newfound expertise in diagnosing and categorizing turf problems, enhancing their practical skills.

Jones will present “Leveling the Playing Field: Building an Inclusive Culture for Your Sports Field Management Team.” The future of the sports field management workforce will increasingly include workers from the non-traditional path of a four-year education. Other paths traveled will be those who earn a two-year degree, former entrepreneurs or retirees seeking to just work outside. These individuals will bring valuable skills, fresh perspectives and unique experiences to your team. Building an inclusive culture is key to integrating multifaceted individuals and creating a supportive environment where everyone feels valued. Inclusivity boosts motivation and productivity, ensuring all workers contribute to the success of the team and the quality of the field. By embracing diversity, your organization and the industry become stronger and more adaptable to future challenges.
