The Green Sports Alliance (GSA) Summit, presented by AEG, was held June 11-13 at L.A. Live in Los Angeles. The event brought together industry leaders, sustainability experts, athletes, entertainers and organizations committed to advancing environmental and social responsibility in the sports and entertainment industries.
“Each year, we emphasize the importance of social and environmental sustainability leadership that drives positive action through strategic collaboration,” said GSA Executive Director Roger McClendon.
GSA challenges industry and decision makers to accelerate renewable energy, eliminate plastic pollution, adopt circularity principles and implement regenerative operations.
The 2024 GSA Summit showcased a series of panels, main-stage conversations, solution sessions, workshops, roundtable discussions and networking opportunities.
The event featured more than 100 speakers, including Chase Cain, national climate reporter and meteorologist at NBC; Sarah Spain, ESPN; Becky Dale, VP of sustainability for LA28; Scott Jenkins, general manager, Kansas City Current; Hilary Meyer, SVP of impact, Athletes Unlimited; Riley Nelson, head of sustainability for NASCAR; Omar Mitchell, VP of industry growth and sustainability for the National Hockey League; Annie Horn, director of social responsibility & sustainability, National Basketball Association; Sophie Goldschmidt, president and CEO, U.S. Ski & Snowboard; Christy Briggs, sustainability manager, Seattle Seahawks/Lumen Field; Dawn Brown, senior manager, stadium tours, education and sustainability at Mercedes-Benz Stadium; Julia Goldstein, executive director, Rose Bowl Operating Company; Heather Vaughn, senior VP of marketing, PAC-12; and many more.
Sessions covered a wide range of topics, including environmental justice, ESG commitments, waste reduction, women’s leadership, the path to carbon neutrality, fan engagement, global perspectives and community outreach.
