Regional turfgrass expos and conferences going virtual

Several regional turfgrass expos and conferences have announced that their events will be held virtually. Details are as follows:

2021 Mid-Atlantic Turfgrass Expo (MATE)

The Annual “MATE” conference is going to be all virtual and will focus primarily on education. The conference is now four days, limited to three hours per day. Inclusive dates are January 19 – 22, 2021. CEUs are offered for Nutrient Management, Certified Fertilizer Applicators, GCSSA, STMA, etc.

Pesticide Certification is also being offered this year with a great addition; Dr. David McCall is integrating the Student Contest as part of the program. Their presentations will be on their current cutting-edge research. Also, at the MATE conference there will be several outstanding speakers, Dr. Matt Elmore (Rutgers University) Dr. Grady Miller (N.C. State University) and Mr. Nick Yakish (Arlington National Cemetery). All profits from MATE go Virginia Tech for their turf programs.

The virtual conference – to be held January 4-6, 2021 – will feature top-notch speakers and education including experts from the University of Tennessee, along with speakers from around the southeast. The event will feature TTA’s annual business meeting and recognize award winners.

33rd Annual Arkansas Turfgrass Association Conference

The Arkansas Turfgrass Association (ATA) annual conference will take place virtually during the week of January 25-29, 2021. There will be numerous opportunities for learning during the week and pesticide recertification credits and GCSAA PDI points will be available. Outstanding members will be recognized with ATA’s annual awards for lawn, golf and sports.

Education sessions will occur throughout the week via a virtual platform and will be recorded for your convenience. Three or four courses will be offered each day, and each class will be about 50 minutes in length, including time for questions and answers at the end. Each course will be recorded and made available to all registered attendees later in the day. All classes will be available through Friday, February 5, giving everyone at least a full week to view as many courses as they would like.
