The Sports Turf Managers Association kicks off its sixth annual “Mowing Patterns Contest.”
Members craft unique patterns for eligibility to win complimentary registration to the 2019 STMA Annual Conference in Phoenix. Entries are submitted via Facebook before November 16; only patterns produced with mowing equipment qualify. The general public may vote on Facebook from Nov. 17-23. The design receiving the largest number of votes, upon verification, will be announced on Nov. 26.
“We’re constantly impressed by the imaginative and aesthetically pleasing designs our members create while maintaining safe playing surfaces,” says Kim Heck, CAE, CEO of STMA. “This contest offers an opportunity to showcase some of these incredible works of art.”
Last year’s winner was Kelly Rensel, Head Groundskeeper at the Great Lakes Loons (Midland, MI), Single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Rensel’s intricate design featured the Loons’ logo mowed into the outfield ahead of the 2017 Midwest League All-Star Game at Dow Diamond.
The Mowing Patterns winning design will have a custom poster featured at the 2019 STMA Conference & Exhibition, January 22-25. More than 1,600 leaders in the sports turf industry will gather in the Valley of the Sun for 4 days of cutting-edge sports turf education, dedicated networking functions and exhibitor demonstrations. With eight educational tracks, topics include turfgrass management, facility management, synthetic, pest control, water, industry developments, baseball and professional development.
Only STMA members are eligible to enter and previous winners will not be considered.
