“Begin with a problem and end with a solution.” – Stephen Hamilton On Wednesday, October 10, Stephen Hamilton, Sports Complex Maintenance Coordinator for the City of Peoria Arizona will be presenting the webinar “The Martian Meets MacGyver.” With budgets getting tighter, we must be more creative with resources. By defining obstacles and knowing end goals, it is possible to overcome challenges. With ideas in mind and blueprints in our heads, we tackle problems with simplicity and efficiency at the forefront.
After spending his career at different levels and different sites of professional baseball, Stephen has collected a vast library of ideas. With these ideas (tips and tricks), he has come up with a successful program. His experience can be summed up in a quote from “The Martian”:
“At some point, everything’s gonna go south on you… everything’s going to go south and you’re going to say, this is it. This is how I end. Now you can either accept that, or you can get to work. That’s all it is. You just begin. You do the math. You solve one problem… and you solve the next one… and then the next. And if you solve enough problems, you get to come home. All right, questions?” Session participants will learn to find a balance between practical and repeatable. Meaning, could I teach this to a part timer with little experience? Could I repeat this for consistent results? Will this improve productivity? Will the end product be the same or better?
Stephen will demonstrate his process for designing and implementing tools and techniques. If you have a problem you can’t seem to overcome, will you outsource or solve it in-house? If the answer is in-house, then let’s get to work on networking and finding a solution.
