On August 31, Weston Appelfeller, CSFM, STMA board member and Director of Grounds for the Columbus Crew SC, presented to nearly 100 field managers in Santiago, Chile. He spoke about field stress management and provided practical tips on field renovation during an educational event sponsored by Turf Masters. In addition to his presentation, participants watched the STMA-produced video about the profession, which was in Spanish.
This presentation is a result of STMA’s International Committee’s outreach efforts to position the association as a resource to those outside of the U.S. and to share our information and expertise. Next month, STMA member Kyley Dickson, Ph.D., University of Tennessee, will be sharing information about STMA and field management practices to a similar group in Buenos Aires, Argentina. That presentation is hosted by ProField S.A. The Committee is also exploring a potential opportunity to speak in China in December.
