STMA & fraud prevention reminders

With so many fraudulent e-mails circling the globe and the increase in hacking attempts, STMA reminds you of the following:

  1. STMA does not contract with third-party companies to sell our mailing list or member data. Please disregard any such fake company solicitations. We do not release your email address – ever, per Board policy, unless you have given us permission (i.e. one time use to exhibitors before the annual conference).
  2. STMA staff or officers will never ask you to transfer funds to a staffer, volunteer leader or member for any reason. If one of our leaders is actually traveling and runs into challenges, they will contact a family member – not us, and not you.
  3. While we may ask you to log in to your profile to register for an event, or update your contact information, we will not ask you to send your social security number, bank account information, or credit card information directly to us. Electronic and paper invoices will direct you to our secure PCI-compliant payment options.
  4. STMA has contracts with specific hotels for our annual conference. We publish those hotels’ names and reservation processes on our website. We do not engage telemarketers to call you to “reserve” a room. This is a sham.
  5. If you have any questions about the validity of a message from STMA – from staff, our officers, our website orSportsTurf publications, please do not hesitate to contact us directly, ph. 800-323-3875.
