PCB contamination rendered Fox River fish inedible for decades and lately has disrupted baseball schedules more than a mile inland. Polychlorinated biphenyls, a chemical compound used for making carbonless copy paper in the 1950s and 1960s then spread throughout the Fox River through the paper recycling process at area mills, was detected behind Ashwaubenon (WI) High School during construction of its synthetic turf football field last year.
