Bayer CropScience announces McNerney as area sales manager

Environmental Science, a division of Bayer CropScience LP, announced the appointment of Sean McNerney as area sales manager for the North American turf and ornamentals business. In his new role serving the southwest Florida market, McNerney is responsible for driving sales of assigned accounts and distributor branches, as well as building and maintaining relationships with key end users.

“It is critical at Bayer to be able to support our customers with a first-class sales force that truly understands their businesses and their greatest challenges,” said David Wells, golf business manager for Bayer’s T&O business. “Sean’s experience as a golf course superintendent will further strengthen our ability to meet the needs of our customers with the expertise and solutions that truly help them be successful.”

McNerney brings a strong background in turf management to his new role. In his most recent position as golf course superintendent at Landirr Incorporated, McNerney managed the daily operations of the 27-hole Bonifay Country Club Golf Course in The Villages, Fla. He previously served as an assistant superintendent at both OneSource Landscape & Golf Service and Grand Cypress Golf Club.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked at some great American golf courses,” said McNerney.  “I’m excited for the opportunity to bring my experience in turfgrass management to Bayer, where I can work together with golf course superintendents, lawn care operators and distributers to help them achieve their business goals using innovative science and solutions.”

McNerney holds an associate degree of applied science in golf course management from Daytona Beach Community College. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration with a minor in interpersonal communication skills at the University of Central Florida.
