The East Tennessee Golf Course Superintendents Association and UT Extension will be co-hosting a Herbicide Resistance Field Day on April 8 at the East Tennessee Research and Education Center in Knoxville.

The issue of turfgrass weeds developing resistance to both pre- and postemergence herbicides is an emerging problem throughout the southeastern United States. The East Tennessee Golf Course Superintendents Association (ETGCSA) and UT Extension will be co-hosting a Herbicide Resistance Field Day on April 8th, 2014 at the East Tennessee Research and Education Center in Knoxville, TN.

This event will be an educational meeting for the ETGCSA and an in-service training for UT Extension professionals. The Field Day will encompass both classroom sessions and plot tours on the topic of building herbicide programs centered around rotating herbicidal mechanisms of action to prevent resistance in turf. Attendees will receive up to four pesticide recertification credits in Tennessee categories C3, C6 C10, and C12 and continuing education credits from GCSAA. A full copy of the program is presented below.

$10 per person (additional $10 per person for individuals desiring to participate in a Big Break format golf event at the UT Practice Facility following lunch. This is limited to 40 ETGCSA members and will be a 9-hole walking event).

12:00 – 1:00pm: A sponsored lunch will be provided by Dicken’s Supply
