Winterkill effects on preemergence herbicide use

The “polar vortex” has resulted in temperatures across much of Tennessee measuring lower this winter than in years past. Many turfgrass managers have expressed concerns about bermudagrass damage from prolonged exposure to cold temperatures. The threat of winter damage or in extreme cases, winterkill, also raises questions about proper preemergence (PRE) herbicide use this spring.
