Rick Holfoth, CGCS was elected President. Rick is the superintendent at the Country Club of Rochester, and serves on the SUNY Delhi Golf Turf Advisory Board.

NYSTA elects 2014 Officers and Directors

The New York State Turfgrass Association (NYSTA) elected its 2014 officers and directors at their annual meeting held during the Turf & Grounds Exposition in Rochester, NY on November 13, 2013. Rick Holfoth, CGCS was elected President. Rick is the golf course superintendent at the Country Club of Rochester, and serves on the SUNY Delhi Golf Turf Advisory Board. Twice he has received the Peter P. Hahn Superintendent of the Year Award by the Finger Lakes Association of Golf Course Superintendents (FLAGCS).


Tim Hahn, superintendent of the Grey Stone/Shadows Golf Courses will serve as Vice President. Tim is a past president of FLAGCS and received their Superintendent of the Year Award in 1997, and Distinguished Service Award in 2005.


The 2014 Treasurer is Tom Wright, Mohonk Mountain House Parks and Grounds Superintendent. Tom was awarded the 2009 Environmental Stewardship Award from the Global Sports Alliance of New York.


The newly elected directors include John Carlone, CGCS – Meadow Brook Club; Greg Chorvas – Cantine Veterans Sports Complex; and Kevin Collins – Aquatrols Corporation of America. Other members currently serving as directors include Joe Potrikus – Greener World Landscape Maintenance; Dominic Morales – SUNY Delhi Emeritus; Michael Maffei, CGCS – Back O’Beyond; Roger Lind – Grassland Equipment and Irrigation; Jim Hornung, Jr. –  Great Lakes Athletic Fields; and Steven Whipple – West Point Golf Course. Bob Sanderson will serve as past president.


The New York State Turfgrass Association is comprised of green industry professionals who have joined together to share technology, promote environmental stewardship, support education, advance research and disseminate research findings.
