Join SnowCare for Troops and give thanks to active-duty troops currently deployed

For a fourth year THE BOSS Snowplow is pleased to underwrite Project EverGreen’s SnowCare for Troops (SCFT) program, a community-based campaign providing active-duty military families currently deployed with snow removal services during the winter months.

While deployment levels vary from day to day, the U.S. military continues to have a major presence around the world. The U.S. Department of Defense reports more than 1.4 million active-duty personnel currently serve in the core branches of the armed services with another 850,000 reservists ready to serve. Uncertainty in the Middle East and elsewhere around the world means that the roughly 175,000 troops serving overseas will continue to need our support and help on the home front.

“As any service member can tell you, the need for this program is still very great and we’re thrilled to see that participation in SnowCare for Troops is growing,” said Mark Klossner, marketing director for THE BOSS Snowplow. “Backing up our troops is what this program is all about. We’re excited to see so many snow removal and landscape professionals giving their time and energy to show their appreciation to our service members and we look forward to a very active year.”

The SCFT campaign currently has about 3,750 families and 1,400 volunteers signed up to participate in the program. Project EverGreen matches registered military families with local volunteers to provide free snow removal services. Volunteers who want to join the cause can sign up online by visiting www.projectevergreen.com/scft. In addition to volunteer participation, donations of money or gas cards as well as loans of snow removal equipment to volunteers and community groups are also welcome.

“We’re very grateful for the generous underwriting support our friends at BOSS Snowplow have given to help ensure military families are taken care of,” said Cindy Code, Project EverGreen executive director.  “It’s easy to take all of the everyday things like snow shoveling for granted, but when these tasks and other household chores fall to the family member left behind during a deployment the added stress takes a toll. Through SnowCare for Troops and our dedicated volunteer network that’s one small burden lifted from their shoulders.”
