Cutting edge mower donated to NGTC

The term cutting edge is often used to describe state-of-the-art technology – and in the case of a recent donation from Golf Ventures to North Georgia Technical College’s Turf and Golf Course Management program, the term fits perfectly.

The new Jacobsen ECLIPSE walking greens mower uses advanced computer technology to provide the most consistent cut on greens – regardless of who is at the controls.

“It is always exciting when we can give our students the experience of ultimate professional care on the greens,” said NGTC Turf and Golf Course Management Instructor Joshua Jackson.  “We keep a tournament level putting green active on campus as our lab, and this new technology ensures that we can maintain it with the least amount of stress to the plants.”

The Jacobsen ECLIPSE walking greens mower’s electronically programmable speed and frequency-of-clip controls, combined with the highest number of reel blades, allow turf managers to easily adjust the mower to varying turf conditions.  Optimal frequency-of-clip settings make it possible to raise the height-of-cut on greens while maintaining ball roll, thus minimizing turf stress and reducing water and chemical usage.

James Dudley, Territory Manager for Golf Ventures, was on hand to deliver the ECLIPSE mower to Jackson and two eager students.  Golf Ventures is committed to bringing the latest proven technology to the market to provide the ability to apply unique and requires individual care to each course.

“This is such a wonderful contribution to the college,” said NGTC Foundation Director Cynthia Brown.  “We are so thrilled that Golf Ventures had such high quality equipment to contribute to the future of our workforce in this area.”

The NGTC Foundation was created in 2000 to enhance educational opportunities at NGTC.  For those interested in making it possible for students to achieve the dream of a life-changing education, the Foundation accepts charitable tax deductible donations including gifts, pledges, and planned gifts as well as items such as automobiles, boats, equipment, and real estate.
