Bristol Sox announce new sports turf manager

Bristol Baseball, Incorporated, operator of the Bristol White Sox, and the City of Bristol, Virginia are proud to announce that Matthew Meade will serve as the sports turf manager for Boyce Cox Field, home of the Bristol White Sox. The field also serves as a playing facility for Virginia High School and Virginia Intermont College.

“During the past several years, Bristol Baseball, Incorporated and the City have put a lot of money and man-hours into improving and maintaining the field, for use by the Sox, and our local amateur teams,” said Mahlon Luttrell, President of Bristol Baseball, Incorporated and General Manager for the Sox. “We are happy to welcome Matthew to our team, and look forward to implementing his advice to further improve the facility and give our fans, and the players on the field, an ever better baseball experience.”

Meade, a native of Bristol, is a graduate of Rutgers University’s highly-ranked Turf Management Program. He is a member of the Virginia Turf Council, and also serves as greens superintendent at Clear Creek Golf Course.

“The City of Bristol is delighted to be able to bring Matthew into the fold to help maintain and improve our baseball field,” said Dewey Cashwell, City Manager. “The City and I are committed to doing everything we can to retain and promote professional baseball here in Bristol.”
