Agrium Advanced Technologies Newest Member of US Green Building Council

Agrium Advanced Technologies announced the company’s membership in the U.S. Green Building Council, the first fertilizer manufacturer to be recognized as a member of the USGBC.

The USGBC is a diverse, member-driven organization that identifies and implements practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions through education, research and its internationally recognized, independent Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification program.

“AAT is honored to be the first fertilizer manufacturer recognized as a member of the U.S. Green Building Council,” said Andrew Mittag, President, Agrium Advanced Technologies. “We share the USGBC’s mission to create and support prosperous and sustainable communities through the adoption of environmentally responsible, cost-efficient green building and maintenance practices.”

As the world’s leader in controlled-release fertilizer technology, AAT is also at the forefront of environmental responsibility in the fertilizer industry through its organizational commitment to sustainable business practices, innovative technology and education efforts. In fact, AAT’s Duration CR Controlled-Release Fertilizer product line is an environmentally responsible option for turf maintenance professionals, owners and operators to help their projects meet the standards required for green building.

“Like the USGBC, we strive to champion sustainable choices every day and challenge others to join us in adopting practices that contribute to a vibrant, sustainable future for communities everywhere,” said Mittag.

Duration CR Controlled-Release Fertilizer provides a variety of environmental and economic benefits to users. Duration’s proprietary polymer coating technology delivers even, consistent feeding and nutrient release to turfgrass for up to 180 days, depending on longevity design. Duration also reduces surge growth and volatilization and mitigates leaching, which are harmful to the environment.

The Duration CR product line reflects USGBC’s green building principles, which offer opportunities to reduce energy and resource consumption, enabling lower costs and critical savings for building owners and operators, as well as residential homeowners.

“We are pleased to welcome Agrium Advanced Technologies to the U.S. Green Building Council.  SGBC membership attests to AAT’s commitment and leadership in the realm of sustainability,” said Doug Gatlin, Vice President, USGBC. “We look forward to working with AAT and its employees to bring greener buildings – and greener futures – to communities across the country.”
