Eight months after installing a $4,000 wireless soil monitoring system, Palm Beach Atlantic University said it has saved about $20,000 and 4 million gallons of water in a five-month period, surprising even school staffers. “It’s definitely been eye-opening,” said Ken Kropp, PBAU’s grounds manager. “I thought we would save water, but we exceeded what I thought we’d save.”
