In response to a concerned public, which is growing impatient with substandard recreation field conditions, the mayor and council of Parsippany, NJ directed the borough engineer to provide an analysis of the costs associated with applying for the Highlands Act exemption. The governing body also has asked Borough Attorney Mark Madaio to research whether the municipal open space tax, which was approved via a referendum in 2005, could be used to fund a field turf project in the event the council sanctions such a project.
