Agrium Advanced Technologies announced the establishment of a corporate Sustainability Team, designed to coordinate the variety of sustainable initiatives currently underway across the organization.
“Building a sustainable company requires a focus on the Environmental, Economic and Social pillars of our organization.” said Andrew Mittag, President, Agrium Advanced Technologies. “Not only is AAT the leading manufacturer of slow- and controlled-release fertilizers, we’re also a leader in sustainable initiatives in the fertilizer market, from innovation in production to working with environmental organizations on fertilizer legislation to end-user education and everything in between. Our new Sustainability Team will help us maintain our focus on the goals we set for our organization.”
The new team features the addition of Sarah Fox as Agrium Advanced Technologies’ first Sustainability Initiatives Specialist, bringing almost two decades of leadership experience in non-profit and governmental environmental legislation and policy innovation to the organization.
“The opportunity to coordinate the wide variety of environmentally, economically and socially responsible efforts underway at Agrium Advanced Technologies is very exciting,” said Fox, who will also work with the organization’s Agronomy and Marketing Communication departments to educate and inform various company stakeholders. “The decisions we make in our day-to-day operations, from the technology we use to manufacture our products to our commitment in ensuring our products are used correctly, form the backbone of AAT’s commitment to sustainable practices. That commitment is why I’m so pleased to join this team.”
Fox assumes her new position immediately, and will be based out of Agrium Advanced Technologies’ Loveland, Colo. headquarters. In her role, Fox will work closely with a variety of Non-Governmental Organizations and environmental industry thought-leaders to help ensure Agrium Advanced Technologies’ sustainability practices mirror accepted best practice, while providing leadership within the commercial fertilizer industry.
As a LEED Accredited Professional, Fox will also represent Agrium Advanced Technologies on the United States Green Building Council, the National Green School Committee, Project Evergreen Sustainability Committee and the RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment) Government Affairs committee.
“By establishing our corporate sustainability team, we’re clearly demonstrating to all of our stakeholders that we’re moving forward with business practices, innovative technology and education to ensure our product is used in the most responsible manner possible,” said Mittag. “That commitment to sustainability exists across each sector of our organization.”
