The Bowie Baysox and the Sports Turf Managers Association announced that Baysox Director of Field and Facility Operations Matt Parrott has been named the Double-A Sports Turf Manager of the Year. Parrott is in his ninth season with the Baysox, and this is the first time he has been honored with the award.
Baysox General Manager Brian Shallcross was impressed with the accomplishments of Parrott and Baysox Assistant Groundskeeper Jason Green. “During Matt’s time with the Baysox, he and his crew have systematically transformed our playing surface into one of the finest in Minor League baseball,” said Shallcross. “Our organization is proud to see Matt recognized for his hard work during his tenure with the Baysox.”
The award will be presented to Parrott at a luncheon during the annual Baseball Winter Meetings in Dallas in December. STMA is the professional association for the men and women who manage athletic fields and facilities. They strive to provide access to the most up-to-date and relevant information about athletic field and facility management.
In September, Parrott was recognized as the Diamond Pro Sports Field Manager of the Year for the Eastern League. It was also the first time he had won that award
